OntospyWeb is a tool made for navigating ontologies ('vocabularies') encoded using the RDF family of languages. It is based on the Ontospy Python library, which in turns wraps RDFLib.

More and more websites have started to embed structured data describing products, people, organizations, places, events into their HTML pages using markup standards such as RDFa, Microdata and Microformats.
The Web Data Commons project extracts this data from several billion web pages. The project provides the extracted data for download and publishes statistics about the deployment of the different formats.
The knowledge contained in the World Wide Web is available in interlinked documents written in natural language. To make use of this knowledge, technologies such as natural language processing, inf...
The Library of Congress has launched the Bibliographic Framework Transition Initiative to better accommodate future needs of the library community. A major focus of the initiative will be to determine a transition path for the MARC 21 exchange format to more Web based, Linked Data standards. Zepheira and The Library of Congress are working together to develop a Linked Data model, vocabulary and enabling tools / services for supporting this Initiative.
Some of the tools are simply editors for a particular technology (eg, Protégé), other provide complex services (eg, AllegroGraph. It must be said that the borderline between this category and Programming Environments can be a bit fuzzy.
Herkömmliche Content Management Systeme sind künftigen Anforderungen nicht mehr gewachsen. Sie müssen granularer, flexibler und kommunikativer werden. Die Frage ist, sollten heutige CMS angepasst oder komplett neu programmiert werden...
The BBC’s website for the 2010 World Cup was notable for the raw amount of rich information that it contained. Every player on every team in every group had their own web page, and the ease with which you could navigate from one piece of content to the next was remarkable. Within the Semantic Web community, the website was notable for one more reason: it was made possible by the BBC’s embrace of Semantic Web technologies.. Topic: Information Management
Die DC-Semantic-Engine ist ein Verschlagwortungssystem, das Texte mit Hilfe von statistischen und semantischen Verfahren automatisch kategorisiert und vertaggt.

hakia is a general purpose "semantic" search engine. currently indexing fields such as medicine, finance, law, science, travel, arts, history, as well as other content-rich topics.
Linked Data is about using the Web to connect related data that wasn't previously linked, or using the Web to lower the barriers to linking data currently linked using other methods.
W3C POWDER Working Group. The POWDER Working Group is specifying a protocol for publishing descriptions of (e.g. metadata about) Web resources using RDF, OWL, and HTTP.
Cultural-heritage collections are typically indexed with metadata derived from a range of different vocabularies, such as AAT, Iconclass and in-house standards. This presents a problem when one wants to use multiple collections in an interoperable way. In general, it is unrealistic to assume unification of vocabularies. Vocabularies have been developed in many sub-domains, each with their own emphasis and scope. Still, there is significant overlap between the vocabularies used for indexing. The prime research objective of this subproject is to develop theory, methods and tools for allowing metadata interoperability through semantic links between the vocabularies. This research challenge is similar to what is called the “ontology mapping” problem in Semantic Web research.
Tim Berners-Lee should know what he is talking about, when he says 'Celebrity damages private life'. The person who is considered to be the inventor of the World Wide Web was born today 57 years ago.
Abschlussveranstaltung des THESEUS KMU-Projekts MEDIAGLOBE - THE DIGITAL ARCHIVE. Präsentationen zu innovativen Verfahren der Medienanalyse , der semantischen Analyse und der semantischen Suche, inkl. Fotos und Präsentationen (in deutscher Sprache)
In this post, Jennifer Bowen discusses the implications of Karen Coyle's January issue of Library Technology Reports, and places it in the current context of Metadata librarianship.
The Resource Description and Access (RDA) standard, due to be released this coming summer, has included since May 2007 a parallel effort to build Semantic Web enabled vocabularies. This article describes that effort and the decisions made to express the vocabularies for use within the library community and in addition as a bridge to the future of library data outside the current MARC-based systems. The authors also touch on the registration activities that have made the vocabularies usable independently of the RDA textual guidance. Designed for both human and machine users, the registered vocabularies describe the relationships between FRBR, the RDA classes and properties and the extensive value vocabularies developed for use within RDA.
