‘320 and Up’ starts with a tiny screen stylesheet that contains only reset, colour and typography styles. Media Queries then load assets and layout styles progressively and only as they’re needed. Think of this as responsible responsive design.
What is a framework? So that we’re all on the same page, let’s agree—at least for the duration of this article—on this definition of “framework”: a set of tools, libraries, conventions, and best practices that attempt to abstract routine task
During the proposed 12-month period of the planning grant, the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities Libraries will collaborate with the College of Liberal Arts, to develop a multi-dimensional model for assessing support for scholarship and research in the context of a large research campus. Sixteen academic departments have been selected for exploration within the humanities and social sciences.
The curriculum outlines what we believe to be a continuum of skills, competencies, behaviours and attitudes ranging
from functional skills to intellectual operations that together comprise the spectrum of information literacy.
The overarching aim of the curriculum is to help undergraduate learners to develop a high‐level, reflective understanding of information contexts and issues which will empower them with a robust framework for handling new information situations, and to generate strategies for evaluating, analysing and and assimilating that information as needed and at the time it is required.
The emphasis throughout is on the student’s development as a discerning scholar and, beyond the academic arena, as an informed citizen and an autonomous and lifelong learner.
This article introduces the Spring Data Access Object (DAO) framework. After examining the architectural needs for DAO, it describes the DAO pattern in general and how Spring simplifies the implementation.
Abbot helps you test your Java UI. It comprises Abbot, which lets you programmatically drive UI components, and Costello (built on Abbot) which allows you to easily launch, explore and control an application. The framework may be used with both scripts and compiled code.
Runa WFE is an environment for JBoss jBPM workflow engine. It is a cross-platform end user solution for business process development and execution. Together Runa WFE and JBoss jBPM provide an easy to use business process management system.
Runa WFE is an open source project.
What is this project
Runa WFE provides:
* an end user GUI to define business processes without any coding: draw flowcharts, define roles and variables, lay out forms
* an end user GUI to load and execute processes
* an administrative interface to create and remove users/groups and grant rights
* a possibility of writing automatic "bots" that can participate in business processes
* a possibility to code new GUI elements, variable types, organizational structure functions etc. that extend existing Runa WFE components and will be available to end users through the GUI
Runa WFE makes it possible to integrate your diverse enterprise applications in a unified system, by using "bots" that run inside "bot stations".
Activiti is a light-weight workflow and Business Process Management (BPM) Platform targeted at business people, developers and system admins. Its core is a super-fast and rock-solid BPMN 2 process engine for Java. It's open-source and distributed under the Apache license. Activiti runs in any Java application, on a server, on a cluster or in the cloud. It integrates perfectly with Spring, it is extremely lightweight and based on simple concepts.
This paper provides a summary account of Activity-Centred Analysis and Design (ACAD). ACAD offers a practical approach to analysing complex learning situations, in a way that can generate knowledge that is reusable in subsequent (re)design work. ACAD has been developed over the last two decades. It has been tested and refined through collaborative analyses of a large number of complex learning situations and through research studies involving experienced and inexperienced design teams. The paper offers a definition and high level description of ACAD and goes on to explain the underlying motivation. The paper also provides an overview of two current areas of development in ACAD: the creation of explicit design rationales and the ACAD toolkit for collaborative design meetings. As well as providing some ideas that can help teachers, design teams and others discuss and agree on their working methods, ACAD has implications for some broader issues in educational technology research and development. It questions some deep assumptions about the framing of research and design thinking, in the hope that fresh ideas may be useful to people involved in leadership and advocacy roles in the field.
A number of architecture frameworks exist, each of which has its particular advantages and disadvantages, and relevance, for enterprise architecture. Several are discussed in Other Architectures and Frameworks .
However, there is no accepted industry standard method for developing an enterprise architecture. The Open Group goal with TOGAF is to work towards making the TOGAF ADM just such an industry standard method, which can be used for developing the products associated with any recognized enterprise framework that the architect feels is appropriate for a particular architecture. The Open Group vision for TOGAF is as a vehicle and repository for practical, experience-based information on how to go about the process of enterprise architecture, providing a generic method with which specific sets of deliverables, specific reference models, and other relevant architectural assets can be integrated.
To illustrate the concept, this section provides a mapping of the various phases of the TOGAF ADM to the cells of the well-known Zachman Framework.
