Abstract

This report gi~es a retrospecti~2 ~i~w to th6 activiti2s which ha~2 b2en performed in CIGRE Working and Task Groups to find te~t a~thods for th2 partial discharge (PDI resistivity of insulating materials. Schematic diagr-ams vf the uSed specimEns are given. and a table shows th~ dim"nsions which have b~en used during the experiments. First 2xperiences with these specimens and chRracteristi~ details of the various IDethods are described. Though life time experiments are close to practical insulation demands. the large scattering of their distribution is an important disadvantage. The registration of PD magnitudes gives n2c~ssary lnformation about PD phenomena and the characteristical progress of PD ageing. Then the question is-discussed. which criteria may be most important for the valuation of test methods. It is also proposed that basic research work should be continued, and steps of further investigation are recommended.
