This document deals with the planning, the design and the construction activities of the above project. The Pearl river crossing is, by far, the most important 500 kV crossing in the world on consideration that the width at the crossing point is of 2.5 km and that the h~ight of the suspension towers is about ?40 metres. The -purpose of this publication is to highlight the major difficulties faced during the execution of the various activities, the alternative proposal• put forward and the solution adopted.
