Abstract

This essay outlines three practical issues to consider in order to communicate science effectively in a multicultural society. These are (1) recognition of all cultures in the development of science, (2) equitable use of language in science communication, and (3) mutual critique between science and culture. The essay emphasizes the viewthat public accessibility into and participation in science are matters of basic human rights, justice, and equity.
