Abstract
We discuss the wetting properties of solids decorated with
micro-structures such as pillars. We stress the special behaviours
generated by these decorations, and more particularly:\\
(i) the generation of enhanced hydrophobicity;\\
(ii) the propagation of liquid films inside the texture;\\
(iii) the special patterns observed with impacting
drops.\\
We also discuss the contact angle hysteresis on such hydrophobic solids,
which achieve a very favourable system for studying this important
practical property, responsible for the sticking of liquids on solids.
