Estrategias para la traducción del dialecto: el caso del doblaje de Bienvenidos al Norte

Abstract
In this article, we analyse how the presence of a dialect in an original work affects its translation and the ways to deal with this linguistic variation. We focus our study on the dubbed version of the French film Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis (released in Spain as Bienvenidos al Norte), because it represents a paradigmatic example of the use of a dialect in an audiovisual text, in this case, as an important humoristic element. By comparing the original and the dubbed versions of some selected scenes, we will describe the different strategies followed to translate the ch'ti dialect, both in its phonetic side (the accent) as in its lexical aspect. This example will offer us a trend that may be extrapolated for translating dialects appearing in a film.
