Abstract

Indian petroleum industry is one of the major industrial sectors of India. India has 20 refineries — 17 in the public sector and three in the private sector. Indian petroleum industries utilize very complex systems, comprising of equipment and their human interface, which are engineered to fulfill the production needs of the business. With profit and productivity being the main motive ,it suggests new and strategic steps towards the implementation of truly effective energy efficiency improving steps that are consistent with the accepted standard principles of measurement, documentation, which can enforce continuous improvement in the energy scenario of Indian petroleum industry. Energy management standards put forward an executable policy mechanism for encouraging energy efficiency in petroleum industrial facilities. This paper showcases the current scenario of energy management in Indian petroleum industry , including an analysis of their shared features and differences, in terms of content, promulgation, and effectuation. Efficacious and sustainable energy efficiency programs dealt with in the paper for the petroleum industrial arrangement necessitates a systems approach to optimize the integrated whole while matching basal business requirements. This paper addresses energy as a manageable resource, discusses how the energy programs could be incorporated and integrated into management practices of the Indian petroleum sector, thus having an organizational context to continually seek opportunities for optimizing their energy use.
