S. Burd. The Chronicle of Higher Education, (2004)
Abstract
Records from the Federal Election Commission indicate that officials with the loan industry and proprietary institutions have given almost \$1 million in campaign contributions to the 49 members of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. The committee has introduced legislation to renew the Higher Education Act that grants the student-loan industry and for-profit colleges most of what they had asked for, prompting opponents to say that it has been hijacked by special interests.
