J. Rio, and M. Robles. Abstract Book of the XXIII IUPAP International Conference on Statistical Physics, Genova, Italy, (9-13 July 2007)
Abstract
Recently, many efforts have been addressed to describe complex systems
in terms of the interaction between their elements, and proposing
micro-variables. Most of these efforts dedicated to study problems in the so called sociophysics and econophysics. In this work a different perspective is adopted to propose the use a renormalization of the grades in a ranked complex
system in order to build a macroscopic point of view. In particular the
renormalization was applied to the study of the evolution of the impact
factors of scientific journals, where the scheme can be considered like
a new framework able to describe important features. These new set of macroscopic variables can be analyzed on time and we found an attractor point in the new phase space as can be seen in the figure. This fact seems to indicate prefered equilibrium states in the new set of varibles.
