The findings revealed that small and medium enterprise development and per capita income are statistically significant in explaining employment generation in Nigeria while commercial bank credits to SMEs, infrastructure, foreign aids and human capital development are statistically insignificant in explaining employment generation in Nigeria. The study recommends among others that the government should adopt high import tariff and low import quotas to encourage our local industries grow and create adequate employment thereby reducing dependence on imported goods.
