SCIENTIFIC AND ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES OF CREATING COMPACT LINES WITH INCREASED NATURAL CAPACITY

. (1991)

Abstract

At present, the power transmission capacity of a.c. lines worldwide is close to its minimum value. To increase it, the conductor surface area must be increased, which is achieved by increasing the nUlllber of subccnductors per phase and optimizing their space arrangement. In so doing, phase-to-phase spacing may be substantially decreased, which is, the basic for creating compact lines with increased natural capacity.
