G. Blumenstyk. Chronicle of Higher Education, (2005)
Abstract
The article reports that the Education Department of the State of New York is clamping down on a fast-growing for-profit college that specializes in recruiting financially needy students who have not graduated from high school. The state says the college, Interboro Institute, is overly aggressive in recruiting students eligible for financial aid and too lax in providing counseling and academic supervision that might help more of the poorly prepared students earn their associate degrees. The state, which gathered information through an undercover investigation at the institute as well as two site visits by teams of peer reviewers, has ordered Interboro to reduce its enrollment.
